Luca Grimaldi (1985) was born in Rome, Italy and lives and works both in Groningen, The Netherlands where he is completing his Masters of Fine art at the Frank Mohr Institute.
Traveling between these three cities leaves him feeling disconnected. In his paintings, which are based on self-made photographs, he looks for anonymous places and captures the generic quality of these images in paint. This way he tries to relate to these places and objects that play an important role in everyone’s life and finds beauty and meaning by looking beyond the obvious. Everyday life given an unexpected podium by means of art.
